This weekend my husband, new puppy, and I hiked our first fourteener. A fourteener, for those who may not know is a mountain 14,000 ft. or above. It was a long, hard hike!

One of the reasons we moved to Colorado is to enjoy our lives and get out of the rat race. As we were hiking I realized this was not going to be a quick trip. It hit me somewhere along the trip that I was determined to get to the summit, but was forgetting to enjoy the journey. When I stopped and looked I was overwhelmed with the beauty around me.

We tend to live our lives like that, always focused on the goal of getting somewhere instead of enjoying the journey. Someone told me once that life is a marathon, not a sprint, yet we sprint day after day.

Every single day, God gives us a sunrise and a sunset. He puts things before us to behold His incredible beauty. Those things are love notes from the Father.

Tomorrow as you start your day, take a moment and see the gifts God puts before you. Yours may be the sweetness of your child, the rainbow after the rain, the kindness of another, or the millions of other things that could bring a smile to your face. God wants to bless you, love you and show you His great beauty.

Whatever mountain you are climbing, stop and take in the beauty of His great love for you! His love alone is so beautiful! Yours may not be a fourteener, but keep your eyes open to see whatever handfuls on purpose God puts before you each day. Remember, no matter what mountain you’re climbing, you are never alone! He has you in the palm of His great hand!

Decide today to enjoy the journey!

After moving to Colorado in September, I had no idea how God was going to continue to use me or the ministry. The move itself was an incredible “dream come true”, but I remember wondering if the dream of a book published, or helping others get past their past would die. God knows exactly what we need! I had little understanding of how much rest I needed due to the year I had before the move. Probably a bit like your life, I was being pulled in so many different directions, exhaustion was part of every day.

The dream of living in Colorado has brought more wonderful things in my life than I could have ever imagined. Although I miss everyone in Houston, there is incredible rest here. It’s quieter, and slower here than anywhere I’ve ever been. God always does exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ask or think. On top of that, the book is a reality, the ministry is growing, and best of all, I’m finding my biggest dream of all – precious time! There’s time for God, for myself, my husband, and for fun, so much fun! What more could one ask for?

I pray you find yourself continuing to hope for your dreams to come true! Our God is always faithful! Remember though, He knows better than you do what you need, and it’s probably better than you would ever dream! James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” NKJV
