Loved and Free

When Kara, my web designer began working on the website, she asked what the tag line would be for the ministry.  I pondered that for a bit because I knew it was important.  Captive No More has always been the name of the ministry but it hit me that the tag line is defining what the ministry ultimately brings.

The heart of this for me is that I know from personal experience that when you can emotionally and spiritually really digest how much God loves you, that’s when things begin to change. I’ve been working with people for a long time, and I’ve always said if anyone can get that one truth in their heart, it will begin their journey to freedom. As long as we are confused and believe lies about God and ourselves, we cannot truly be free. Those old things will derail our journey to freedom.

John 3:16 in The Message Bible says, “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.”

Everyone in this whole world is completely loved by God.  Through Jesus we’ve been put right, and in right standing with this amazing God.  He wants us to know that He loves us on our best day or our worst.  He is our Abba Father.  Abba is an intimate term, meaning daddy.  I was in an airport in May, and I kept hearing someone call out Abba.  I searched for where it was coming from because it’s not something you hear often. It was from a small boy and he was calling for his daddy.  Unfortunately we cannot draw close to God as Abba if we don’t realize how very much He loves us and is for us.

Psalm 145:9 “God is good to one and all; everything he does is soaked through with grace.”  When we can apply the truth of His love to our lives we can begin to trust Him.  There are many scriptures that speak of His goodness.  Our part is to choose to put aside all of the lies and religious garbage and allow God to show us His goodness.

Through the finished work of Jesus you are forgiven, loved, accepted and approved.  You are wanted!  Maybe there’s been rejection and horrible hurt in your life, but the truth is God loves you, and wants to be your Abba Father!

Take a few minutes and ponder that truth.  Say to yourself, I am loved!  As that begins to soak in and get to your heart, freedom can begin to be yours.
